Meet Reshmma:

QUESTION 1: What one book should every coach read - and why?

There are many books which have me and have helped me to be an effective coach. However I would like to share these 2 favourite books:

  1. Coach the Person, Not the Problem: A Guide to Using Reflective Inquiry by Marcia Reynold. This book cites the latest brain science to show why reflective inquiry works and provides techniques, tips and structures for creating breakthrough conversations. (For more on this book check out The Top 10 Coaching Books to Make You a Better Coach!)
  2. Inner Bonding: Becoming a Loving Adult to Your Inner Child by Margaret Paul. This book is very powerful and life changing with inner child work. It explores how abandonment of our inner child leads to increasingly negative and destructive feelings of low self-worth, codependence, addiction, shame, powerlessness and withdrawal from relationships.

QUESTION 2: Which website do you visit the most?

I visit Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn frequently to read and share inspirational stories and achievements (eg. about my coaching programs and workshops).

QUESTION 3: Whom do you admire most?

There are several people whom I admire for their contribution and their influence in human lives and our society. To name a few: Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, Oprah Winfrey and my mother who is a breast cancer survivor. She mentored me to value every human and show kindness to everyone. I admire the way she lives her life to the fullest.

I also admire myself for coming out of my turbulent life and finding balance and harmony. I think I see my own courage and kindness in people whom I admire now. I truly believe our life is inside out!

QUESTION 4: What's your vision for your life? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

My vision for my life is to live every moment to the fullest and spread happiness and joy around.

5 years from now I have touched upon a million women's lives globally with my coaching, sound healing and healing practices. I will also be helping organisations with mindfulness practices, coaching and wellness to achieve a stress free environment, and embrace creativity to increase their productivity. My business growth is over 200% by 2025.

QUESTION 5: What is your "big project" at the moment?

My corporate stress management workshop to bring balance, release anxiousness and reduce panic attacks and depression due to COVID-19 (the lockdown and working from home situation that many are in).

QUESTION 6: What are your Top 3 Goals at the moment?

The 3 goals I am working at the moment are:

  1. Organising and managing my time better.
  2. Grow my coaching business and taking it global.
  3. Complete my NLP Career Transition Group Coaching module.

QUESTION 7: What has been your most powerful moment in coaching so far?

There are many moments that I cherish, however there was a particular session where she realised during our conversation that she was mirroring the relationship her mother had with her own father. My client noticed a pattern where she depended on her mother's validation and approval for her successes as well as in day-to-day life.

That session was so emotional and a mixed bag of emotions.

One moment I thought we were stuck, but I stayed in silence and was just present for my client. We didn't speak aloud for almost 3 mins. And then she had the above revelation and said she would now like to shift from this "approval needing" space to her own space. She wanted to accept herself without judgement, or needing outside validation.

I asked her how does this newly transitioned person look, how do they feel? She said she felt light in her body and mind, free and powerful to take ownership of her life - to run it in her own way.

This moment of silence was so very powerful for us both. My comfortable silence gave her pause to think and reflect, and I learnt how being in silence and in the moment is incredibly powerful - and a resource to help create a shift.

QUESTION 8: What are your Top 3 favourite coaching tools and/or resources?

The best tool and resource any coach can develop is the skill of listening and coaching presence - especially our silence. Apart from this some of the tools I use are:

  1. Visioning/Visualisation tools
  2. Metaphors and Storytelling
  3. The Coaching Tools Company tools especially the Life Visioning Exercise, Draw Out Your Gremlin etc.

QUESTION 9: What do you love most about being a coach?

The whole presence and process of coaching is very powerful and impactful. It helps our coachees gain clarity about themselves, and achieve what they're seeking in life. And since all the insights come from the coachee, it's amazing to experience when they are accountable and surpass their own expectations. As a coach I feel deeply fulfilled and happy to contribute to this.

QUESTION 10: Tell us a secret about you...

I appear very calm and composed and people think I have been like this all my life. However I have had several issues with my anger and experienced depression for almost 2 years, living on pills for 15 years. Coaching and other healing modalities have helped me become the confident and calm person that I am today.

QUESTION 11: If you could change one thing in our world, what would it be? And how would you go about it?

I would like every school to teach how we can accept ourselves unconditionally and how to manage emotions in a healthy way. If they taught EQ (emotional intelligence) instead of focusing on IQ, this would help build a better society.
