About Dawn Campbell:

Lives in: Originally from the UK, I spend the winter in Spain and the summer in France.

Type of Coach: Holistic Health Coach

Describe your coaching business in one sentence: I'm all about helping clients "add years to their life by adding life to their years" through health, fitness and lifestyle coaching, so they too can "live the life they love and love the life they live" even longer!

Meet Dawn:

Dawn Ann Campbell is a Holistic Health Practitioner, Author & Nordic Walking Instructor. Her coaching is increasingly practical and conducted outside the office.

QUESTION 1: What one book should every coach read - and why?

So many books, so little time... I love reading books with spiritual lessons, for example, "The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari". Also, I write what I like to read - so any of my co-authored books, the latest being a coaches business handbook "How to Win & Keep Clients".

QUESTION 2: Which website do you visit the most?

The IAPC&M (International Authority for Professional Coaching and Mentors) website, closely followed by TED Talks.

QUESTION 3: Whom do you admire most?

Again, so many inspirational people it's hard to choose one! But if I had these people at my supper party, it would be amazing: I've met Richard Branson so have always followed his successful and varied professional journey; I'd love to meet the talented and diverse Oprah; Madonna to discuss branding; Russell Brand for his amazing transition from drug addict to spiritual guru and mentor; the wonderful smokey voiced poet Leonard Cohen; HH the Dalai Lama for his humour and wisdom to name but a few…

QUESTION 4: What's your vision for your life? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Nordic Walking the worlds pilgrimage routes (which I admit is vast). I have downsized my 'stuff' and am down to the basics. I was once so materialistic and a shopaholic, I've now become the queen of de-cluttering!

QUESTION 5: What is your "big project" at the moment?

To organise a pilgrim type retreat for burnt out corporate execs so they can lose the weight, stress, reduce anger etc. and improve their creativity, mental clarity, sense of well-being, energy and health status. I am also working hard to grow the IAPC&M resources and membership.

QUESTION 6: What has been your most powerful moment in coaching so far?

Having coached for nearly two decades, there have been many gracious moments and touching connections made. Consequently, I have a loving extended family made up of clients who've become friends around the globe - for whom I am very grateful.

In terms of specifics, an audio testimonial of how I helped save a client's life was definitely a heart-felt achievement.

QUESTION 7: What are your Top 3 favourite coaching tools and/or resources?

  1. Undoubtedly open questions.
  2. Meditation - which helps with being clear and open to facilitate a coaching session without an agenda. It also helps the listening and deepens the connection with the client
  3. Books – it pays to be a well-read coach to be able to offer your clients quotes, statistics and tools they can explore in their own time.

QUESTION 8: What do you love most about being a coach?

It's all about the positive results - and coaching does that faster than most other methodologies.

QUESTION 9: Tell us a secret about you...

My big secret was that I had an eating disorder for nearly 25 years. What a waste, on so many levels! Now I'm happy to share how I came through it to help others in their recovery. And I'm also an "introvert extrovert", although most people who know me won't know that as I appear to be an assertive fire-starter!

QUESTION 10: If you could change one thing in our world, what would it be? And how would you go about it?

Never before have we had so much 'stuff' yet felt so unhappy, dissatisfied, desensitised, unconnected to spirit and depressed. And coaching can, of course, help change that physical and mental state.

So, I would help everyone eat a plant based vegan diet (as opposed to eating a man-made, processed, preserved, prepackaged diet). I can't bring myself to eat another sentient being! Luckily I was brought up vegetarian from a toddler so I don't know any different.

In my experience, being vegetarian often goes hand in hand with being more consciously aware, not just of ourselves, but of others and of course the planet! So I believe the world would be a more compassionate and less aggressive, angry, troubled, war torn place.
