Meet Kyle

QUESTION 1. What one book should every coach read - and why?

I recommend Present Over Prefect by Shauna Niequist at least once per week to the career coaches, resume writers, and other service-based business owners I mentor.

I find many of the people I work with struggle with perfectionism. As a recovering perfectionist, I can relate! This book is a reminder of what is truly important in life.

QUESTION 2. Which website do you visit the most?

LinkedIn. I spend far more time on LinkedIn than the average human.

What's great about LinkedIn is you are only a click away from 700M+ other humans. You can connect with recruiters and hiring managers, industry thought leaders, prospective clients… The possibilities are endless!

QUESTION 3. Whom do you admire most and why?

I owe much of my career and business success to my parents. They practice an unwavering love that I rarely see and unconditionally supported my dreams and goals. They taught me I can achieve anything I want.

QUESTION 4. What's your vision for your life? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I am humbled and proud to be living a life I never imagined was possible. I wake up every day to work that excites me, makes me proud, and fills my cup.

Despite being a recovery careeraholic, I now have work/life balance and make time for what matters to me.

Five years from now, I see myself doing much of the same work I am now – helping Silicon Valley's top talent find jobs they love and achieve happiness.

QUESTION 5. What is your "big project" at the moment? What are your Top 3 Goals at the moment?

My word for 2021 is "Lollygag" (to fool around, waste time, dawdle). With this in mind I want to:

  1. Work less.
  2. Get better at saying "no" to more clients outside my Zone of Genius.
  3. Spend more time with my family.

QUESTION 6. What has been your favourite coaching moment so far?

My favorite moments are when my clients' lives change. Notably, many job seekers seek me out to secure jobs in high tech and Silicon Valley that will provide employment sponsorship.

On several occasions, job seekers have had only 60 or 90 days to land a job or risk getting deported.

Together, I partnered with these clients to land jobs in tech and secure employment sponsorship. It is incredibly fulfilling to know that I am helping these clients live the life of their dreams.

QUESTION 7. What are your Top 3 favourite coaching tools and/or resources?

  1. First, mentoring is critical to my career and business success. I strategically and intentionally seek out people who are where I want to be 3, 5, 10+ years from now. I learn as much as I can from these mentors about how they got to where they are, and decide what I can apply to my own life.
  2. Second, my own coaches have been an instrumental resource. I am a proponent of consistently working with at least one, if not more, coaches to develop your career and your life. There are a critical differences between mentors and coaches, so it is important to have both in your toolkit.
  3. Last, I invest time, energy, and money into my professional and personal development. Between education, certifications, and other professional and personal development, I spend countless hours and tens of thousands of dollars per year on my growth.

QUESTION 8. What do you love most about being a coach?

I truly love my job as a coach.

The most exciting part of being a coach is seeing my clients achieve what they never imagined possible. This could be landing a senior executive role at Facebook, LinkedIn, Amazon, Google or Microsoft. Or it may be securing an internal promotion at a tech company. Lastlye, it could be finally achieving their version of work/life balance.

People work with me when they have big goals for their careers and their lives but are feeling stuck. There is nothing more rewarding than helping a client achieve an audacious goal that once felt 'impossible.'

What is even more exciting is that my clients often work at companies with tens of thousands of employees and billions of end-users, so their work is touching the lives of so many humans.

QUESTION 9. Tell us a secret about you...

Funny enough, I was nicknamed Mr. Loquacious by my fifth-grade teacher.

Yet despite frequently appearing on TV, podcasts, webinars, radio, and stages, I am a major introvert. At the end of the day, I get my energy from and thrive on meaningful one-to-one conversations.

Many of my clients are successful executives in high tech and Silicon Valley who can relate to my hunger for deep conversations that spark powerful insights. Many of these executives can talk to huge crowds if they need to, yet prefer one-to-one engagements that allow them to think, imagine, and create.

QUESTION 10. If you could change one thing in our world, what would it be? And how would you go about it?

I dream of a world where everyone feels confident enough to own their fabulousness.

I often imagine what would be possible if each and every human believed in themselves and their unique gifts. You will find I am relentlessly authentic and honest - and believe in my own fabulousness.

In my role as a career coach, professional resume writer, and human, I help people identify what makes them fabulous – then, share help them share it with the world. I dare you to join me on this journey!
